Probability Towards 2000
Fall 1995

A broad array of exciting activities planned and sponsored by CAP were held in Fall of 1995 at the Columbia University Campus. Including both a Mathematical Finance Workshop and a Stochastic Networks Workshop, the Semester ran under the general title "Probability Towards 2000" (referring to the year 2000) which was also the title of the major event.

Monday October 2 - Friday October 6, 1995. International Symposium, “Probability Towards 2000”. The Scientific Committee: L.Accardi, C.Heyde, T.Hida, I.Karatzas, T.Kurtz, R.Rebolledo, K.Sinha.

The five-day Symposium was co-sponsored by the Center for Applied Probability (CAP) at Columbia University, the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America at Columbia University, and the V.Volterra Center of the University of Rome, Tor Vergata.

The Symposium was aimed at reflecting on future trends in probability theory through a dialogue involving the most advanced areas of classical probability as well as more recent developments. The main schools of thought in contemporary probability were represented including a special session on "quantum probability" in honour of K.R. Parthasarathy, on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday (for his contributions to both classical and quantum probability).
